It is amazing that despite the intensity of chemical usage in the production of cotton, Boll Organic is one of the only merchandisers of high quality organic cotton dress shirts anywhere. According to USDA statistics, just in the U.S. in 2001, over 50 million pounds of insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other chemicals were applied to cotton crops.

Although the cotton garments you wear most likely have been stripped of any traces of these chemicals, the environment has not. Chemical residue enters the food chain through livestock feed derived from cotton byproducts and pollutes the fields in which the crops are grown and the surrounding streams.

Boll Organic is firmly committed to a cleaner planet. We donate 1% of our total revenue to organizations working toward a healthier environment. Also, although it costs 30% more to make an organic dress shirt, Boll Organic, in support of environmental stewardship and the organic marketplace, does not pass this cost on to our customers.
